Jake Walker Band

New to IpSwing in 2019, we are delighted to announce that Jake Walker will be performing for us on Sunday 14 July! Jake Walker is a swing and Dixieland jazz band from Ghent in Belgium, and draw a great crowd of dancers wherever they play, inside and out! They play a fabulous mix of original songs and arrangements reminiscent of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Louis Armstrong. Just picture a sunny Sunday afternoon, having just finished a fabulous IpSwing lunch and dancing to this great band!

They have a big following on the continent and are very active in the Ghentian club and café scene. They have played at some big Lindy Hop events (Gentse Hoppers Exchange, Louis Lou’s Dance Madness) and festivals in Belgium (Jazzenede, Genk On Stage, JazzKitchen). We have worked with them to bring together a UK tour, to include IpSwing.

Maybe you are wondering where their name came from, well here’s a clue:

Jake Walk

A paralysis or loss of muscle control in the hands and feet, due to an overconsumption of Jamaican ginger, a.k.a. Jake, a legal substance with an alcoholic base. The numbness led sufferers to walk with a distinct manner.
